Join us for the Hammond Art Guild Summer Adult Art Camp 2021! It's a great way to stay out of the heat and have a wonderful time learning new skills. For class fees and detailed descriptions please open attached course descriptions by clicking on the link for each individual class.
July 12-16
9 AM to 12 PM
Exploration of Color (Instructor: Roland Guidry)
Class Fee: $80
Instructor will provide basic acrylic color, brushes and printed work sheets for specific exercises. Afterwards, the participant must supply their own work surfaces suitable for their medium. Participants will supply their tools and supplies for their preferred medium.
Supplies list for other needs will be provided, but very low cost or found items easily available. The instructor will provide access to a large inventory of other supplies from his personal studio for trial exercises or teaching purposes and experimenting with mixing mediums.
The focus of exercises will be to understand various approaches to color usage across several mediums and art techniques to further an understanding of the use of color to create harmonious and interesting art works. The projects will focus on small scale works based on photographic images provided by the participants. The objective is to work quickly and experiment as much as possible, not to create a larger finished artwork.
1 PM to 4 PM
Acrylic Landscape (Instructor: CB Hume)
Class Fee: $85
Learn to paint “The Great Outdoors” in Acrylic. Easy techniques to create Skies, trees, grass and water. Learn how to mix colors and arrange paintings. Great for beginners and intermediate painters alike.
Supplies included: Instructor will furnish supplies to be used, Paint, brushes, canvasses and table easels.
Supplies needed: If you have a particular set of brushes and a stay wet palette or table easel that you feel more comfortable using feel free to bring them.
July 19-23

Art and Drawing for Absolute Beginners (Instructor: Shayla M. Kelly)
Class Fee: $75
An introduction to the fundamentals of art and drawing. The course will ensure that students have a solid understanding of the essential tools and principles practiced throughout artistic disciplines.
Supplies needed: sketchbook (Parton’s own personal preference), drawing pencils (Parton’s own personal preference), notebook (for note taking).

Oil and Acrylic Painting Workshop (Instructor: Roland Guidry)
Class Fee: $80
It is recommended that participants consider the Color workshop of the week before prior to signing up for the painting workshop, especially if they did not participate in a previous Exploration of Color workshop.
Workshop is presented as a shared learning experience with individual attention so novices are invited to participate.
Various appropriate mediums for modifying the paint will be discussed and demonstrated. Brushwork and the appropriate use and care of brushes will be discussed and demonstrated. Discussion of various painting surfaces and preparation will be discussed and demonstrated.
The instructor will provide access to a large inventory of other supplies from his personal studio for exercises or teaching purposes and experimenting with mixing mediums. Recommended panels, stretched canvases, and papers will be provided for experimenting. The focus of exercises will be to understand various approaches to oil and acrylic painting across several mediums and art techniques to further an understanding of the use of materials and supplies to create harmonious and interesting art works. The projects will focus on small scale works based on photographic images provided by the participants. The objective is to work quickly and experiment as much as possible, not to create a larger finished artwork.

Pine Needle Basketry (Instructor: Tootie Calmes)
Class Fee: $75
Learn to coil and sew a pine needle basket in the manner of the Cushatta Indians. Come learn to craft a basket, bowl, plate or art piece from southern longleaf pine needles. Everything you need to make your creation will be supplied with plenty of leftovers to take home and continue perfecting this craft. Tootie will teach you the basics, and then will guide you to form whatever you decide you are going to make. There will be lots of examples and a book to look at for ideas.

Easy Watercolor (Instructor: CB Hume)
Class Fee: $85
Learn to apply watercolor paint using washes, to create effects, mix clean luminous colors, create great compositions and so much more. This is a great course for beginners and intermediates alike.
Supplies needed: Instructor will furnish Watercolor Paint, brushes, paper and containers for students to use. If you feel more comfortable using your own brushes or palette feel free to bring them
