Art Engagement Outreach Program

As part of HRAC’s Art Engagement Outreach Program, the Hammond Regional Arts Center recently brought art beyond our walls with a special visit to Mrs. Amber Majeau’s class at Midway Elementary School. Executive Director Melissa Griffin spent time with students reading Love from The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle, sparking conversations about love, symbolism, and Carle’s bold, collage-inspired artistic style.

Inspired by the story, students created heart-shaped collages and butterfly artworks that celebrate creativity, color, and self-expression with the help of HRAC's Gallery Coordinator, Shayla Kelly, and intern, Lily Cosby. The finished pieces are now on display in HRAC’s street-facing window. We encourage you to stop by and view the joyful artwork produced by these young artists now through February 27.
